I live not far from Moreton Ford. The depth varies with the weather. Last time I went it was about 4 inches deep so an FL2 could get across without getting the alloys wet. There has been some controversy with locals on this one as its also used as a sort of beach and paddling pool by locals so driving across through a load of kids gets people upset.

Be sure to visit the over priced up market tearooms at the old post office while you are there and Lawrence of Arabia's grave in the churchyard. If any of you are old enough to remember the TV series "Tenko" in the 80's about a Japanese prisoner of war camp for women it was filmed here and caused some amusement when they advertised for "skinny women" to act as extras. Probably couldn't do that now. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

thanks for the replies.

we're camping at snelling farm, great place for anyone interested for future reference.

we stayed a couple of years ago when i had a people carrier(yawn)

we walked there and saw the people paddling etc, it is a lovely spot. unfortunately our sat nav kept sending us that way back to camp so we had to ignore it most of the time.

the paddlers did get a bit nowty when a 4x4 came through. life's tough innit? its hardly a b road and a public right of way.

you dont paddle on a b road when its flooded do you?

i saw a video on youtube via the wetroad site, it must have been winter because it was a damn site deeper than 4''.
I suspect at the moment it will be shallow due to the dry weather.

if i do get stuck I'll call you Dorsetfreelander!

thanks again for the replies
