I recently moved from Sydney to QLD. Which meant a new LR Dealer.

The front rotors and pads were changed which needed doing.
After fitting there was a grinding for 1,500Ks along with a tinny rattle, both of which have never really gone away.

The noise is ‘rotational’ and happens when breaking, almost like a warped disc.
I’m also convinced the rattle is the shielding.

The dealer claims it is a wheel bearing and wants $1,200 P&L!

Alas, something doesn’t feel right.
Someone suggested that overly tight rotors could have damaged the bearing and may explain the warping noise.

Essentially, I feel I’m being pushed aroun.
I miss my old dealer.

So the noise started after the work on the brakes was undertaken (in Sydney ?) and the noise only occurs during braking.

Well IMO Id look at the brakes first.

Rotate each wheel in turn and get someone to gently press the brake pedal checking for the noise. Check the dust shields too, as you say there was a tinny noise.


Pity you were unable to return it to where the brake work was carried out when it was first noticed.

If you're unable to check it yourself then get a second opinion but dont tell them what the other garage said. Jules
