It’s no surprise that it’ll be built in Slovakia, that’s been on the cards for some time. The big surprise was moving the Discovery line, in its entirety, to Slovakia. That was the start of the slippery slope.

There’s no reason to suppose that Land Rover won’t want to fill Slovakia’s capacity as quickly as possible, especially to supply the EU from within and to retain easy access to their European supply lines. We can’t blame them, it makes a lot of commercial sense, especially if they can switch the remaining UK component sourcing into sourcing within the EU.

However, would I want to buy a full size Land Rover that was not built in Solihull? No, I wouldn’t. On the same basis, I’ve bought only Triumph motorcycles for the last 23 years - but only products from Hinckley. Buying one from Thailand seems like it’s missing the point somehow Rolling Eyes

LR has been building cars abroad for years but nobody cared because they didn’t come here. The Jaguar E-Pace is built in Austria again no complaints.

Just as well the Japanese chose to build their cars here and employ 1000s of British workers taking work away from the Japanese workforce Whistle

So long as the Slovakians can build them properly. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
