:censored: . New Clutch I think.

Clutch has been slipping under load in 4th and 5th for a few months now but no big problem. Car has done about 67k and is a 60 facelift plate.

This morning while coming home from work, it just didn't feel "right". Went to overtake a car that was going about 50 and the car just didn't want to do it. Revs went way up but the car made no effort to go faster. Pulled back in and noticed the revs were up at about 4.5k in 5th at 50mph. Then all of a sudden they dropped back down again with no obvious change in speed.

From there on any acceleration resulted in massive revs with no real change in speed. Also a bit of a judder changing from 1st to 2nd.

Got home and as soon as I opened the door all I could smell was clutch.

All this because I said to my wife last night "we might just get the credit card cleared this month"..... Learned to drive in 2011.

yep... definite new clutch and slave cylinder and while your there throw in a flywheel for good measure.... Big Cry

even so 67k is stupidly low mileage for a clutch in this day and age under normal driving

Had mine replaced a 71k it cost £800 I think. That was for everything including the crank seal as that was leaking oil

Stupid fragile dual mass flywheels in modern cars dont help matters.
I needed 2 clutch and flywheel changes in my Discovery 2 in the time I had it. First only lasted 65K, second one did better, got 90K out of it.

OMG is that how much a new clutch is £800, ive done 194k mile in my l200 and expecting clutch to go at some time, hence reason looking for a replacement vehicle

We'll be due a clutch in the not too distant future. To be honest I thought it might be more than that. Was that a LR main agent price, or an independent? ----------

Independent, but that includes "southern tax"

That's a painful price. Only time will tell what needs/should be replaced.

My Indy can't even have it recovered to them until Monday and even then 2 weeks ISH turnaround as they are so busy. Thankfully a friend is away on holiday as of today for a month so they have given me their car.

But still, gutted this has happened. Learned to drive in 2011.

Had mine replaced @ 120K. It was still fine but I did have quite a lot of travel on the pedal and I thought the time had come. It was done by a main dealer along with the big service so pretty much cost me a replacement FL2 - granted one that would imminently need belts, clutch etc. so take that how you will.

That's the car recovered and on its way to the garage.

The recovery guy drove it onto the back of his truck and said although it was clearly "gone", he thought the issue would likely be the pressure plate as once it cools down you get a bit of life from it.

I don't really know if that's a good thing or a bad thing Laughing Learned to drive in 2011.

On my way to pick the car up. They managed quite a quick turnaround.

DMF, clutch and slave cylinder (I think) all replaced.

£1094. Learned to drive in 2011.
