United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Bali Blue

Not my injury but the wife's.
Trying to get the engine back into my LandRover in Zambia and couldn't get the splines to line up. The wife was standing in the cab (floor panels removed) with her hands reaching around the bellhousing trying to give some indication of where to align the engine. After several attempts, my friend shouted 'F***ing LandRovers and gave a mighty shove. At that moment everything lined up and the engine slid into place trapping the wife's fingers. We laughed with relief at getting the engine back in, however the wife thought we were laughing at her bruised fingers so not amused and went off in a big huff. 11 GS Bali Blue

Pronounced dead at the scene !

I had always had very low blood pressure, riding side by side on motorbikes going through lights, Censored up lorry driver goes through lights on red. Upshot I passed through the gap between the cab and the trailer and landed on my head - out cold. Barry was trapped under his bike, under the drive wheels of the cab after ripping a hole in the lorry fuel tank - still awake and screaming. First ambulance turns up, checks pulse - this ones dead possible broken neck. Go see the live one, second ambulance arrives to give a hand. Meanwhile I wake up, stagger across the junction and collapse again behind a hedge. eventually scene is cleared, each ambulance crew thinks the other has me, police turn up at parents house "Your son is dead, but we can't find the body - here are is personal belongings".

I wake up some time later, walk 20 miles home, to a very cool reception.

Some months later, new bike, shattered both arms, plated - and boy can you tell when it's cold and damp

I can look back and smile - Mum and Dad were very upset at the time.

Barry spent weeks in intensive care, with shattered legs and chest.

HGV driver was several times over the limit Censored

I eventually learned that having greater bravery than skill on a motorbike is a recipe for disaster. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
