Intermittent cold starting problem

Hey all, had a search of the forum but couldn't seem to find anything similar.

My MY10 Si6 (115,000kms) has recently started playing up.

On cold starts, maybe once a week, I press the starter button as normal. It will be sluggish starting to turn over, then will catch but runs very lumpily.

It idles OK, but soon as I press the accelerator, there's a delay before it revs and is very sluggish. Driving it, there's hardly any power at all.

Stop the engine, pull out the fob. Re-insert and it fires up perfectly and runs fine.

Only happens on cold starts - either on a morning or if its been stood through the day.

Driving me mad, as I can never get it to misbehave when my mechanic has it in! Twisted Evil

1.Battery has been checked and passed OK and I also run it on a battery charger every couple of weeks.
2. Starter was replaced 18 months ago.
3. Recent oil and filter service.

Any gurus had anything similar or could maybe point me in the right direction, pretty please? Bow down

Good starting point as you have a mix in that bag may be this:

Also hold your start button down and only take finger off once it fires.

Sounds to me that it's unlikely to be a key problem or it wouldn't fire up in the first place but what happens if you swap keys? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Good starting point Yawn

Fella fully insists battery and starter are A OK yet still gets sluggish turn over. Mechanic involved with no result so come on up the game some more as it could be a key fob, both my MY13 fob batteries failed within weeks of each other. Yes its a "starting point" as we are in a process of elimination now and if the key is 7 years old a new battery is not out of place as a everyday running cost.

I feel sure the mechanic will have re-checked all the starter and battery connections for integrity but maybe he has not. But having fired up on a sluggish turnover it should then be off like a rocket unless its getting a protective message that strangely clears when the key fob is reinserted. 3 units involved so far, Starter, Battery and running circuits. Starter replaced, battery checked. so thoughts over to the running circuits as a semi blocked fuel filter would not clear by a reboot.

Thanks guys.

Will try changing the key fob this weekend and see how she goes.

Does sound electrical. Wondering if its maybe something to do with the computer also, which is causing the intermittent rough running.

Really weird when it happens as it feels as though it's not getting enough fuel or air supply blocked. But then restart and bang, its runs fine.

Cheers.
