Rotating tyres back to front

Asking advice on rotating wheels on my recently purchased 2013MY SD4 HSE automatic. 31k miles one owner from new.

All 4 tyres are Scorpion Zero 235/60R18 A/T and the fronts are down to about 4mm. On an ordinary 2wd car I would swap the two rears for the fronts to even out the wear and then change all 4 when the fronts were down to about 2.5 to 3.0 mm.

Is this advisable for a FL2? Not sure of issues with transmission and Haldex and also the tyre sensors.

Any advice appreciated.

Its a must do in my book but only front to rear not side to side as most tyres are now directional. I do it every 10K. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks Bob. Are they likely to be issues with the tyre pressure sensors i.e. will changing the wheels generate tyre pressure messages on the display?

Could also do with knowing where the jacking points are. I'll use two heavy duty trolley jacks to avoid having to put the spare on.

Locations of jacking points are in your handbook. On the side sills you will see ā€œVā€ marks within 6ā€ or so of each wheel arch. They indicate the locations of the jacking points just inboard of the sill. NB: If you have LR style side steps you will need to remove them first before jacking.

MY13 HSE doesn't have tyre pressure monitoring as standard. Just good old traditional valves so if it has a puncture it will only be flat on the bottom Very Happy

If you have a second spare then you can rotate a spare per side, so only 2 lifts.

Rotating front to back is fine, and will even out the wear. No Haldex issues on FL2 (the problems were with the FL1 transmission). There is a paper indicating trolley jacking points. I'll try to find it for you. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the scorpion zero tyres are non directional only inside/outside. If so the OP can change front to back diagonally.

I think you're right, mine are non-directional, but I noticed the A/T ref in the original post and wasn't sure if it was the same tyre. You're correct that they have an inside/outside difference, so aren't reversible on the wheel. All directional tyres have a direction arrow on the sidewall. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Car has factory fitted side-steps.

Is it not possible to jack it with a trolley jack without removing them?

Easy to do if you have winter tyres, just chalk which side they came off so you can remember which side to put them on. Common sense isn't very common.

"as most tyres" were the words used, he can do what he wishes with local knowledge but from my computer I can't see if his tyres have a directional arrow on so why would anyone guess in such a general answer ?

Correct me if I am wrong but doing the job as it was set out in years gone bye you introduced the spare tyre every 6 months into the rotation. Does he have one that matches the set as I have no Censored idea if he has or has not ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
