Help- boot will not open, car says it’s open.

Help
Boot will not open, car says it is open and so will not lock.
Anyone know the trick to opening it?

Tried a battery reset
Tried holding down the lock and unlock buttons.

Am away from home, so cannot leave the car left unlocked, as it will not lock due to thinking the boot is open.

Any help greatly appreciated

mine plays up now and again, I found that slamming it shut sometimes works, guess you've already tried that though. Common sense isn't very common.

Have you tried the tailgate release button on your key fob to see it will open that way?

There are still ways of locking the car:

1. Use the mechanical lock on the passenger door.

2. Lock the doors from the inside (with the doors open, using the lever on the doors themselves), then simply close them - they will remain locked. (This definitely works with the front doors - I haven't tested with the back doors, but they can always be locked from the inside before exiting via a front door. Make sure the keys aren't in the car before closing the doors!)

I had the exact same fault with my previous 08SE. Turned out to be a failed latch in the tailgate door. Changed it myself but was a pig of a job. Had to dismantle the inside of the tailgate & remove the latch and threshold plate before I could open the tailgate. I recall that after access to the wiring in the tailgate, disconnection of the plug enabled me to lock the car.
