Ukraine 2013 Freelander 2 2.0T SE Auto Fuji White

Last year equal to £287 on current exchange rate (0.56). Every state in Australia has a different system. NSW is by weight 1505 to 2504 kg for the Freelander.

In Queensland the Freelander would fall into this category: Vehicle with 1 to 4 cylinders, 2 rotors or a steam vehicle! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The "Road Tax" system in the Uk is completely illogical and unfair as it is based on an emissions figure and not on actual emissions. I pay £240 for about my 6,000 miles a year, the same amount my neighbour pays who does about 60,000 miles a year, so he produces 10 times the emissions I do. On that basis I am made to pay 10 times the amount he does for the amount of emissions I produce.

A fairer system would be to scrap the road tax and put it all on fuel.

Yes on fuel agreed along with Insurance like in New Zealand so those little darlings who run around uninsured are contributing something when they move amongst us. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The government would argue that road tax was scrapped many year ago and that it was replaced with a "duty" hence VED, I still remember when it was classed as a "Road Fund Licence" however, I don't recall seeing that money going to the repair and upkeep of roads though.

The argument to move duty on to fuel has been on-going for years, the downside of course is that eventually we would all have to pay more for goods to cover the extra expense transportation companies would incur. There is no simple solution sadly as for some one would work when for others the same solution wouldn't.

I don't want to push up taxes but the problem we have down under is there is about 42 metres of road per person & the UK is about 6.3 metres of road per person. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The old Road Fund Duty was ring fenced and could only be used for the building and maintenance of the road network - Governments hate ring fenced taxes, hence to move to VED when they can use the amounts raised for anything as it is general taxation.

If we still had the old system it would be a) Much lower and b) much better roads

So it says any new diesel that doesn't meet the new RDE2 will have the tax raised then the next paragraph says there aren't any new cars that do? what a con - why not just say every new diesel will cost more to tax instead of using emissions as an excuse?
Heard on the radio today that they're bringing forward the date when no new petrol or diesel cars will be sold in the UK - so a year after this when drivers are switching to electric cars the power companies will raise prices so the government will be able to recoup some of the lost taxes from fuel Mad

Congestion charges in places like Leeds are on the way as are charges on motorways. Moot point on power charges Evil or Very Mad my and no doubt most others rise in cost is already scandalous. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Ive not seen about the charges on motorways ? is that just a general toll fee or fuel based?

if its fuel based then IIRC diesels are at their least polluting when sat at steady legal motorway speeds, and their most polluting when on A/B/Town roads. So surely the diesel drivers will just avoid the motorways and go the back roads instead, thereby chucking out more pollution ?? Confused

It's nice to know that they will replace petrol and diesel with a cleaner more environmentally friendly alternative...........or is it?

Take a ride over the M62. It’s being turned into a 4 lane SMART motorway and like Austria you can add gantry sensors to the gantrys that strangely that so far are devoid of any attachments.. Rumours of M621 being closed to through traffic through Leeds. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

To start with Leeds will not charge Joe Public . Note : to start with . Their plan is that the clean air zone and will be any area inside the Leeds ring road and the souther boundaries will be the M1 and M621. The cachment area is huge . To start with the charges are levied at private hire and taxis £12.50 per day , and buses coaches and trucks , £100 per day . The cutoff point is going to be anything not meeting euro6 .

With reference to Bob’s comment on the smart motorway lanes on the M62 , the Leeds scheme will be enforced by cameras as you enter the zone .

It is inevitable that this will be extended to all vehicles . Enjoy you diesel while you can , because one day we will
