Holy moly, some read , seems like I’ve been to the sun and back again without being fried lol.
Next trick is waiting for colder weather , dread the thought , and time to check glow plugs separately.

I bought this car in Nov along with AA warranty , but always wary of these , I could put this into a clever garage and prove the fault as I think it is , or risk there being no fault and being charged there time for investigation.
S I’ll wait for better weather and check the plugs to confirm the problem knowing that I can’t be charged for something that wasn’t there.
So I’m wary I know that I can run on a shoestring but I can get there if I’m careful.

Put this in another forum without luck;Can anyone tell me if my GAP Tool should diagnose the glow plugs , I have been through the menu with no result .
My theory being that if it does , it might be worth getting a licence for the Freelander to prove a theory it letting me down on severely cold mornings and not starting. The trouble is that on the Freelander its not that simple to get at the glow plugs to test manually.

Yeah....... on the first few pages of that there are a lot of people that don't understand what goes on under the bonnet before a diesel starts in cold weather. I think the fact that the FL2 has an automatic starting procedure stumps some people and they expect it to start as it does at +20C. Rather than the "turn the ignition on and wait for the glowplug light to go out, then turn the key to start the engine" of older cars. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Hi there,

This is my first post so apologies if its in the wrong section.

I have a 2010 registered FL2 and I've had similar problems.

Bought car about 3 weeks ago and when Beast from the East arrived wouldn't start - called RAC who attached the tester which reported battery was AOK, surprising since its the original LR one.

Anyway, finally managed to start it by almost flattening RAC transit van plus about half a can of WD40 in the air intake.

Managed to get it back to the garage who reported 3 out of 4 glow plugs have been faulty and a new set of 4 fitted.

Everything working OK until this Sunday when second snow reappeared -again RAC reported battery AOK but this time I replaced it with a "Dynamic 110 " (86 Ah CCA 800) from Battery Guys.

Car now starts like a dream BUT it seems to be a bit hit and miss with drivers door when locking the car - opens fine and rest of doors seem to open and close OK.

Any ideas please ?

It was not WD40😟 It would be Easy Start and it's a big No No to use on these. Car will be fine with new glow plugs and battery but read the owners manual to reset your locking and Windows. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
