instruments. TR. HDC. DSC.

Hi all, done the search and found nothing, book is waste of space so here goes, jumped in, started up and noticed nothing illuminated on Terrain Response (reddish usually ), tried pressing buttons but nothing lighting up so pressed HDC to see if that came on screen, nothing!! pressed DSC and same... nothing!! worried now, any Crying or Very sad input gratefully received. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

It may be worth just checking the state of your battery

A couple of days ago I got an error message coming up GEARBOX FAULT REDUCED TRACTION CONTROL everything else seemed as normal except that the Terrain Response function was disabled

I did a bit of a search on here and was fearing for my Haldex or something more expensive but a number of posters were pointing to the battery (or earth strap in older cars)

I had been doing a number of very short journeys over a few days. After a decent run the problem didn't return. I put the battery (which is 5 years old) on the Ceetek last night and, fingers crossed the problem has not returned yet.

Time will tell I guess

Steve

Cheers Steve, not getting any messages up that's the problem so bit confused, been looking on here to see if there's a fuse somewhere I need to check but nothing as I can find so baffled as car seems ok to drive, starts first time and like I said there are no error messages coming up. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Could be worth putting a test meter on the battery to check the voltage - Halfords, etc should do a free battery check if you don't have 1 to hand

I have got this adaptor plugged in to my centre consul socket.
It has a handy voltage readout in the plug top.

I got a Ceetek about 6 months ago and it seems to perform miracles in "regen" mode. Very impressed with how it works, but I guess that when the battery is on its way it is best to replace it

So I suppose the answer to your question is BOTH !!

As the test said: Battery capacity was OK. The reading shows a measured capacity of 661 amps, which is not far short of the specified max. of 700 amps.

The voltage reading indicates a recharge was required. CTEKs are good but pricey - I got the £13.99 LIDL charger - it does the job just as well and includes a digital voltmeter.

Thanks all, at a total loss with this amps and volts stuff. So many CTeks about and the like, should I go for the higher numbered ones ? eg. Ctek have a 5, 7, and 10 so which would do me please? Embarassed If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

With regard to the Ceetek, it rather depends what types and size of battery you will want to use it for. I have an MXS-5 which is fine for most car and motorcycle batteries (1.2 - 110 Amp hour)

Just the FR2. still get my head around why everything seems ok apart from terrain response. hdc & dsc would the battery being a tad low cause these not to work? if so pretty bad design eh?
Man in garage yesterday also confirmed what was put on here a while back that driving around doesn't recharge a battery fully. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
