One for the shotgun shooters

I’ve just got back from a little jaunt to the Cotswolds . I went down yesterday to collect a shotgun that I had sent to Teague Precision Chokes . The company is now owned by Westley Richards and they have a fantastic facility in Pinkney which is kitted out with some impressive CNC lathes and milling machines and more importantly the craftsmen to make sure you get a first rate job. I had sent a fixed choke Miroku MK 38 trap gun to be converted to their thin wall choke system. They must be good , if you decide you want multi chokes on your new £60,000 Boss or Pudey this is where the barrels are sent Bow down They also produce aftermarket Chokes in a myriad of variation, standard , long, extra long , and ported to replace any manufacturers standard issue , all using the Teague Taper Technolgy. It’s impressive to see a British company taking on the Americans like Briley and Rhino and beating them at their own game.

This morning me and the Miroku then went to see the original founder of the business Nigel Teague in Tortworth . This was for a gunfitting which is now his day job . An hour of his time , and the flaws in both me Whistle and the guns dimensions had been identified . He is a smashing bloke to deal with and a true gentleman. The prescription was 5/16 of cast and 3/8 extra pull, and the trap pad is being replaced at the same time . With a bit of luck it might be finished next week.

The end result should be my personalised variation on a universal gun for sporting clays that could also be useful in my plans to do a bit of game shooting next year.

The real pleasure though is knowing that those skill are still alive and kicking . If any of the forum’s shooters need these services having experienced them first hand I’ve no hesitation in recommending them . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

The all wheel drive certainly got a work out - on the way down from Chipping Norton , at times it was more like white water rafting than driving. Today was a fabulous drive back in sunshine , 185 miles in a shade over 3 hours , and 46 mpg ! Unfortunately it is snowing up here at the moment and the gritters are not out . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I'd certainly agree with everything you say about Nigel Teague. A top gent who fitted my Rizzini for me which improved my shooting immediately - improved from total rubbish to just average rubbish but I persevere and realise even he can't work miracles!

I have heard nothing but good reviews about Teauge. Going slightly off topic I have just had my Browning stock replaced and a english oil finnish looks better than when it was new

Hi, if that means you will be shooting the hunt, save me a ticket! Seriously, I also shoot, clays only, and have the best gun I have seen in years.........Browning Cynergy (wood), no kick so shoot for hours at a time, multi-choke great on sporting and skeet. You can keep yer Berettas. Just treated myself to a pair of CENS electronic ear plugs, bloody expensive but bloody good, better than their solid plugs. Dave
