New battery fitted - no parking sensors

Hi folks

Just fitted a new battery on my 2011 TD4 GS, everything working as it should apart from the rear parking sensors. On startup the systems check runs ok (oil service required is on but has been for over a week). Car beeps once (same tone as parking sensors) for a couple of seconds but when I put it in reverse - no parking sensor beep.

Any ideas?

Start at the obvious mate but have you reversed back toward something to see if they need that to reset?

Just a guess this mind. Thumbs Up If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Yes nearly hit a car behind me!

Just driving there and the system check ran twice whilst driving. All dash lights on then off again.

Something to do with new battery?

Sorry that's my bit of guesswork done. Good luck. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Maybe disconnecting it again for a few minutes, holding both battery cables together and reconnecting it may reset things? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

No joy, tried hard reset, dashboard still resetting every few mins whilst driving and no parking sensors. Everything else works? Any ideas?

You could check where the cables land they are not loose or have a dirt (green) build up.

I assume you have the correct size replacement battery.

May need to get fault codes read. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

You did get a correct battery (AGM battery) if it’s a 2011 > stop start FL2.

I think he has an auto so no stop start. I don`t think that the wrong spec battery would give the problems he is experiencing. More likely to be a bad connection somewhere or a wire being unplugged by accident when changing the battery. Perhaps even a faulty battery. Might be worth refitting the old battery to see if the faults go away.

Yeah got an auto non stop start. Old battery is a brick, nothing left at all. Reckon it must be a loose connection somewhere. I changed the battery at night in the pouring rain as I had to so if it gets dry I take another look under the bonnet. There was a clip that came off the positive cable when I took out the old battery. Clipped it back on but maybe worth another look.

Plugged in my code reader and no codes.

p.s. here is the battery I got, typed in my reg into the website and it gave me 3 options of car - I picked the one with 148bhp exec start/stop which is my car. Given the time of year I went for the Β£84.50 one (there were 2 more expensive options). I wouldn't normally go to Halfords for a battery but it was late at night and everywhere else was shut, no option really

Anyone else got this one?

What happened that you were caught out with a dead battery? Perhaps there is an issue elsewhere that has flattened your old battery and giving you electrical issues with the new battery?

All fixed! Was a loose connection. I refitted the battery and also the connector on the positive cable. Parking sensors and dash working fine now
