Reversing sensors.

Having some trouble at the moment with the reversing sensors (although possibly it could be the front ones), they sound off when reverse is selected but not always. I have a continuous beep but still get the beeping on top of the continuous beep as I close distance.

Could anyone explain how I test each sensor ? would it just be easier to replace them all as there are only 4 although I don't know the cost.

The car is 2007 so if they last around 10 years just thought it may be easier to just change them.

The rear sensors are connected to plugs on a loom. The sensor loom plugs into the main car loom on the rear offside under the back bumper moulding, so you have 5 possible connections to check/ clean . That would be my first port of call and look for any obvious damage to the loom . You could start by cleaning the main connection and then unplugging the sensor one at a time to see if your problem clears.

Genuine LR sensors are not cheap, you would get a major shock if you ordered four of them just in case Whistle 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Thanks MartynB & westville for your help & advice.

I am wondering if there is a common fault that applies to the sensors. The gate on the gearbox for example that only the connector needed taking off & pushing back on to clear the fault.

Will have to get under the rear of the car to check the connectors etc first before replacing anything. I see on EBay that a set of 4 sensors are only £40 or £50, probably not genuine part but one set had a lifetime warranty so must be decent quality.
