Heated windscreen failure

In for a service today with Hunters LR Derby. As well as a B service i got them to look at the failed passenger side heated windscreen. Id already checked fuses and swapped them around but still qoulsnt work.
The dealer reckons power is getting through to the connection to the screen which means it must the windscreen at fault.

Sounds a little bit d to me but I'm not paying g my excess for a new screen just for this.

I would. £75 excess (or whatever it is on your policy) for a new, crystal clear heated screen at the start of winter. I’ve got a special tool to fix that. You can get one quite cheaply at any builders merchant. Laughing

They reckoned there was power to the connectors at the screen base

I'm ok to live with it for now so a MK1 brick isn't coming out to play just yet Laughing

Warranty offices weren't open over the weekend. Or not when the dealer phoned anyway..
I'll chase it up this week to see if it covered

I have a similar but different problem. If switch the heated screen on using either the dashboard button or the Prog button, then 4 times out of 5, maybe more, only the left side works. So if the screen is iced up, the left side is clear, whilst the right side is beginning to defrost just from hot air from screen vents.

However if I select nothing, just let it do it's own thing, both sides work pretty much equally well when the temperature drops, even at 2C,doesn't have to be frozen up, light misting and away we go.

Confused, any pointers?

UPDATE

Passenger side heated windscreen started working again except for 2 vertical elements which I wasn't too fussed about.

but now both sides failed to work this morning.

LR wont give me an answer as to whether it is covered by warranty or not so ive had to book it in for 7th Feb as I need a courtesy car for the day.

I was advised they can provide a lift back to work (approx. 3 miles away from the dealer) when I drop off but they cant collect me at the end of the day to collect it..... WTF ???? Evil or Very Mad

and of course barring checking power supply to the connections at the base of the windscreen and maybe cleaning the connections what else can they check if there is no ice to defrost. Big Cry

so lets just say I fork out for the excess on my windscreen, have it replaced and it still doesn't work

Windscreen clearly wasn't the problem in that case

And if LR inspect the connections etc and find them ok, but wont cover the windscreen I have to pay £50 + vat for their time...

catch 22

Not the best solution but if your screen fails totally then carry an empty 2L bottle with you and always fill it up with cold water ideallly straight from the tap before your away to pour it over the windscreen. This will keep the temperature the same and the screen will be fine. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

The normal blower heater clears the screen quite effectively, a lot more so than the older FL2 ive had, but nowhere near as quick as the heated elements.

Could have done with it working this morning too as it was -6 deg when I left for work Shocked

Could it be something as simple as a faulty relay? - the screen has two separate elements so it is unlikely both have failed at the same time - see the wiring diagram sticky on the technical topic - page 44 No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

could be Westy.. I have checked both fuses previously which appeared ok, and LR Derby had a quick look when it was in for service and said power was getting through (although im not convinced they looked properly) But that was all when just the passenger side had failed.
Its under approved warranty so im hoping its covered by that. I don't know if my windscreen cover would fit a genuine LR screen or a cheaper after market one and from previous posts on here it appears the aftermarket ones are very hit and miss on quality
