I'm getting more and more frustrated with the inbuilt sat nav in my 2009 HSE.

I've read threads about fitting tablets or aftermarket kit like the Xtrons unit but am concerned about losing function such as radio and parking sensors.

I've read on some threads about bridging the MOST ring if display removed but it's not clear if this restores the radio and sensor functions.

Is it possible to 'move' the display out the way behind the dash and leave connected?
What are options for removing and maintaining function?

Any advice from peeps who may have done this would be welcome.

Having owned a 2008 SE and now a 2012 HSE where the satnavs were identical, perhaps I can help.

Firstly let me state that I'm a retired Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor. This includes lots of cartography. I have a collection of maps going back 60 years; Ordnance Survey, tourist city maps, road atlases, etc. I have walked first and second WW battlefields with original trench maps. I have also sailed the English Channel and have several navigation charts.

As you may gather I LOVE MAPS.

Having said all that, I absolutely adore the Freelander Satnav and almost treat it like a computer game. I think I know most of its tricks and idiosyncrasies and would therefore be very interested why you find it frustrating?
