newbie - hands-free phone question - Radio always ON ?

TD4 - S (2015)

I managed to pair my android phone to the radio to phone out and receive calls....
It seems to me, the radio has to be ON all the time...
Can I turn off radio and still phone in/out via hand-free ?
... OK, I can turn down VOL to 0 but thats a workaround

From my experience I would say you need to have turned on the radio. I tend to have it on anyway but I take your point. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

On mine you can make and receive calls without the radio being on. If the radio is on and you answer an incoming call the radio automatically mutes for the duration of the call. That is with the Meridian system, dunno about others. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

Same as bbrap, I've found the mobile will work without any audio being switched on.
I've only had my car just over a month and I went through everything to see how it all worked but in the end decided not to leave the phone synced all of the time, only linking it up if I'm expecting a call. I'm clearly a sad ol'git, not receiving too many calls but I suppose if you use the mobile on the go for work, it's a different matter
