Reduced performance & Special Programs Off message

Hi All,

Another fault to get you thinking.

When I start my car, I get a reduced performance message and a special programs off message on the dash. If i put the car in drive there is no power at all and looking down at the terrain selector shows there is nothing lit.

Sometimes, turning the engine off and back on again will clear the fault and the car will drive as normal. Most of the time, however, the engine needs to fully warm up before the issues go away.

In terms of the reduced performance until warm, I wonder if that could be attributed to the EGR valve? I blanked it off some time ago and wonder if it is maybe sucking in air which, in turn, causes the reduced performance? QUESTION - Does the EGR cease operating when the engine gets up to temp?

The Special Programs Off message baffles me as I cannot understand what it could be.

Thoughts Please?

Opposite reaction, faulty EGR goes into reduced power when it gets hot in my experience.

Cold weather out there, how old is your battery ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The battery is about a year old. She cranks really well and fires immediately. I do have a glow plug issue but I am going to have to live with that unless I risk breaking the plug in the head whilst trying to swap out. Even my indy was reluctant to do it. He recommended I wait until it gets really bad!!

I had exactly this problem with my previous FL2 while it was under warranty, the rear differential oil pump had failed.

Just replaced the glow plugs in my 2007, they couldn't have come out any easier (once you get to them).

I have the Foxwell NT510 from Gendan. It much depends on what you hope to do and how mucvh you are willing to spend.

Going to add it's not just reading information it's more what are you going to do with the info.

I swapped the oil and filter tonight and carried out a hard reset. The reduced power message was still there along with the special programs message.

P0251 Injection pump fuel metering control A
U0401 Invalid data received from engine control module/ power train control module
U3000 Control module

Thoughts please?

Battery and fuel filter both swapped last year. I also gave the terminals a good clean and a coating of copper grease when I undertook the hard reset at the weekend.

I'm worried about the "last of the cheaper options" comment Shocked Sad

Your full fault code is P025100 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control A

Carry out the pinpoint tests associated with this DTC using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system

You need the full codes for the other 2 as they will go to a further 2 digits.
