SWMBO reported a new BMW X something or other was stuck in the middle of a puddle blocking one of our little lanes the other day when it was a bit wet causing a bit of a detour. Puddle well known & not that deep (10-12'') Found out BMW owner had been told some major electronics were located at the BOTTOM of the engine bay ! Clever design eh Rolling with laughter FL2 Ex D2, D3, RRS, etc. now all gone.

England 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Apparently the 4x4 function of the BMW is simply to appeal to the typical BMW "challenged" driver. The 4x4 function has no real practical purpose.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Bali Blue

Probably an X1 which is actually a Mini Countryman with a different shell on top so not really a proper 4x4, even has the same seats out of the Mini if you don't opt for the sport seats.... Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit

The pre 2018 facelift car isn’t so bad. Most of the important stuff still has real buttons and it’s even reverted to the proper Terrain Reponse dial that was so stupidly removed from the facelifted FL2.

Unfortunately, the post 2018 facelifted L405’s controls are just as impractical as those in the Velar Evil or Very Mad

Funnily enough, from the MINI point of view, it’s a X1, with a MINI body shell on top of it! Rolling Eyes ...pausing just for a moment to give credit to the Mk 2 Countryman’s designers for coming up with a design so ugly that even Gert Hildebrand is probably impressed Shocked
