SE Stereo In GS

I've been offered the stereo and sat nav units out of an SE,
1) how easy are they to fit?
2) does the SE also have more & better speakers?

any ideas?

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Martinique Blue

1 ) No Clue I'm afraid. The XS / SE / HSE ones are reasonably easy to remove and have the basic same components (display, cd player, control box/amp) but I don't know if the wiring is the same for the S/GS as it is for the XS+.

2) Yes. The XS has more than the GS, tweeter, subwoofer etc and afaik, the SE and def the HSE has more than the XS. HSE (and I believe SE too, without googling) has the Dolby pro-logic stereo with 14 speakers. XS has 9 I think and GS prolly has 4 or 6.(?)

Stupid question, but can you try it and see? Not sure how much gain you'll get from it without the other speakers though and again not sure if the quality of the speakers you do have is the same as the ones in the upper models.

Not to mention any veh specific coding like npinks mentions. Although a dealer might be able to help you out there.

Sorry to not be of more help.. still hoping someone comes round the corner with the ultimate answer to the how to retro fit oem bi-xenon lights! Very Happy

Edit: Just saw you've been offered sat nav too! Eeek! Now we're really talking serious stuff. Bear in mind that the wiring loom will likely be completely different. I saw it done once before on a 2003 Honda Accord where a guy retro fitted OEM sat nav from an Exec model to a Type-S and got it going but my God the heartache! There are so many little things to think about that might not cross your mind or even be wired in your car, reversing sensor, light sensor, speedsensors etc etc.. Have a look at the thread that I got this from to get an idea. http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php...rum=sp4rks

This pic might answer your question! Wink Rolling with laughter Whistle
