Can C3 oil be used in an older A3/B3 vehicle ?

We have a 2004 petrol non-turbo Vauxhall Corsa which has A3/B3 engine oil specified in its manual. I have a lot of C3 oil of the correct viscosity rating.
Is there any harm in using the C3 oil in this vehicle ? I'd have thought not but Im no oil expert. Jules

Looks like you would be putting in a diesel recommended oil. My thoughts (not making a recommendation) if I had a tanker full I would only use it if I was going to change the oil and filter every 6,000 miles. Otherwise if you want to have longer change intervals maybe not.

I ended up with some Castrol Edge 3 years ago that was more diesel spec than petrol, Merc main dealer was happy to use it in year one of our petrol SLK as the car only did 5,000 miles a year and got fresh oil on age not use.

A3/B3 Category for high-performance and Fuel Economy engine oils. Exceeds ACEA A1/B1 with regard to Noack (evaporation losses), piston cleanliness and oxidation stability.Extended oil change intervals possible.

LOW SAPS Diesel Engines

An additional category appears in these specifications in which sulphate ash, phosphorous and sulphur content (SAPS) is limited.

C1 Largely based on the ACEA A5/B5. Strict limitation of SAPS content.Low HTHS viscosity of >2.9 mPas.

C2 Same as C1 but with somewhat higher SAPS content permissible (as with C3).

C3 Same as C2 except for HTHS > 3.5 and without Fuel Economy performance.
