i6 Auto rattle under acceleration

Hi all, my 08 Fl2 i6 has started making a worrying rattle when under hard acceleration, it appears to be coming from the gearbox, I managed to get a short recording of the noise (link below), so if anyone has any ideas i'd be very grateful! I have already checked to see if there are any bits of heat shield that are loose but and all seem to be ok.

Worst case, it's possible that the splines on the transfer case - front differential connection to be a little shaved...
This due to hard driving and/or incorrect tire pressures during time. Or different tire sizes between front and rear.

doesn't sound good, defiantly a problem, I have an i6 and it's much quieter than that.
good luck with it. Common sense isn't very common.
