Goodyear Vector 4 seasons gen 2

Honest John site voted them 2nd or 3rd to the Crossclimate and Auto Express All Season tyre of the year 2016 winner.

AE review said cross climate aquaplaned whereas the Vector didn't and various other attributes.

Has anyone here actually got them? Cheapest I've found in 235/55/19 105 is £168 fitted

I'll shut up soon once I've bought tyres but an avid researcher!

AM not sure how much interest there is in this or similar topics but if it helps others going forward as has many of the comments I'v read then all good!

So, after further research and taking into account the Cross Climate's poor aquaplaning results, I've ordered the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen2 235/55/19 105W XL. They're M&S rated and Auto Express tyre of the year as per the below link. Also came 2nd or 3rd in the Bilg? tests and highly rated elsewhere.

Price is much the same as the Cross Climate but after revisiting sites (started off in the £180's and am sure they drop the price if you leave a gap after adding to basket) got from Oponeo for £138 each incl delivery. With fitting cost = £152.40 each.

Collected car today, private sale but with remaining LR warranty so having a good one!

I'll be needing tyres soon, so I'll be interested to see how you get on with these

4/5 days delivery so hopefully fitted by the end of next week.

My first FL so not sure how much use I'll be but will report what I can. Watch this space!

Vector four seasons Gen 2 fitted today and Hunter aligned. Now steering wheel is dead straight and you could and is like a different car!

And I have two good spare conti's (well, 4 & 5mm) in the garage to boot!

Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Steve yes I agree. The point I was making was that the tyre manufacture Nokia came before that well known mobile phone company.

So obviously, I got to try the Goodyear Vector 4 seasons Gen ll today. Deep snow on hilly winding lanes in north Oxfordshire. So many cars stuck, especially where there were steep slopes.

As this is my first 4x4 I don't of course have a wealth of experience as a comparison/ However, got upto around 35mph and perfect. Braked heard (not emergency stop) at 30 and the ABS kicked in but the car came to a halt almost immediately. Also turned whilst braking and recovered well. Deliberately changed lanes over deep ruts and it never felt as though it would wander or required quick responses to adjust the steering.

If anyone's not far from Bicester and ever wants to come and compare than more than happy to oblige as it's all a good learning experience for us all.

My summer tyres are M&S rated. What you need in winter is the symbol with 3 mountain peaks and snow flakes .... for winter use on the roads ...  Freelander 2 HSE. Santorini Black. Roof Rack, Running Board, Auto.

Am I the only one to have just gone out with a torch to check the symbol on my tyres?!

Worth remembering that the winter tyres need a fair bit of tread - 4mm is really the minimum. I fit Wintracs for the winter. They wear very well and should last for quite a few winters. When the tread gets a bit low for winter use I intend to wear them out over the summer. at least that was the intention with my last set but after four winters on two separate cars they were still good enough to sell on!
For anyone new to this topic, true winter tyres aren't just for snow. They have a softer rubber compound and start to give you an advantage even on dry roads from 7 deg downwards, when normal tyres start to harden.
