Map sensor KPA?

Hi all

What should the map kpa be reading? Mine reads 101kpa when the engine is off and 101/102/103 kpa at idle. When shutin the engine off it drops to 50ish kpa then rises back to 101 kpa?

Are these readings about right?

Any help would be great

Dan

MAP is manifold absolute pressure. kPa is kilopascals.
That 101 kPa is the normal atmospheric pressure, which is 1013.25 millibars, or 101.325 kPa, at sea level.
If that value remains the same, no matter how hard you rise the RPM, then it is a problem. If it increases, then it's OK, as the turbo is doing its job.
When turning off the engine, the electric throttle is closing shut but the engine is still turning, generating some kind of vacuum into the intake manifold, hence the 50 kPa. Pressure that later returns to normal, atmospheric pressure.
So normal operating values.

Cheers Alex

Weve just been out for alittle drive and had the hawkeye pluged in to see that the Kpa goes upto 254 kpa and hits a wall, it seems to build to this 254 kpa with ease, the thing we are trying to work out is why under hard frottle we are getting black smoke until letting off frottle again, it seems to be burning fuel and drumping it out of the exhaust, cant see how its over fueling, only that its not getting the right amount of air at full frottle

Its mpg seems good
All pipes have been checked
New air filter
Its not burning any oil
Coolant is spot on
Turbo arm is moving
Frottle body seems good
Swirl flaps all good

No smoke under light frottle

Its abit of a random one tbh hense we are trying to check sensors

Any help would be greatful
