Gear selector clunky

Hi everyone
I recently bought an fl2 sd4, I've noticed that when I move selector from reverse to drive it drops in with quite a clunk, any ideas? It drives beautiful but has a few miles on the clock 132k

Hi there, i have an MY08 automatic and I also get the same clunking noise when putting in reverse. Hope its not something sinister going on with the gearbox itself.

Looked into a replacement gear selector and it seems they are about £110.

Wonder if a DIY replacement would pose difficulties.

Regards

Are you parking on a slope if so put it in nuteral apply the hand brake let the car settle on the hand brake then put it into park that stops the loud clunk.

Thanks for the reply, not parking on a slope - but will try your suggestion. Thanks!
