Petrol twin exhaust on SD4?

Has anyone fitted one? I know it is a straight swap and no fitment issues, I was interested if there were any issues as a result?
I would imagine that there will be a drop in exhaust pressure for example?
I just much prefer the look of the twin..

I have searched high and low but cannot find an answer as how to actually fit it? It looks as if the old one would need to be cut off, is this the case?

Yes, first buy a S/S joint sleeve off the 'bay. Then cut yours in situ with an angle grinder. Prize the old box off the 3 rubber hangers, slide on your new sleeve then offer up the new box. Secure with the rubber hangers. Slide the new sleeve to bridge the join half way & tighten the nuts/bolts. Job's a good 'un. Easier if you have a garage lift.

Excellent, thank you. Do you know what size sleeve I require? I am just waiting for a quote for a stainless made one to come back before I spend the £130 on a use i6 and do it myself...

Excellent thanks, that is the one I have had my eye on. The chap as said you do not need a joiner as the exhaust pipe will slide over the orig meaning you just need a clamp...

AJM, has your car got the bodykit on? It looks like it from your profile pic...

Obviously everything is subject to taste but as someone who has fitted a twin outlet exhaust to a bodykitted car, you should be aware that the smaller round pipe trims (as in the ebay link above) sit so far back under the rear bumper extension that they are almost invisible and blow soot all over the bumper - they are really meant for a standard bodied car.

The larger trims sit much further out towards the back of the car, but are massive and way too much for my taste. For me these look even more daft on non-bodykitted cars as so much of the pipes are visible you can tell they are bolt-ons.

Custom may be your best bet - and is what I'd do now if doing it again. In the end I used the twin box and had two medium sized oval pipes professionally welded on (at GREAT expense Big Cry). This gave me the perfect look for a while, but I still ultimately reverted to the downward pipe. Just couldn't agree with sporty looking pipes on a Freelander in the end. Whistle

I would be inclined to agree with you DE1979.

IMO the pipes either sit too low away from the bottom of the bumper or too far back under it.

AjM appears to have the Dynamic spec which already came with the oval exhaust tip.

If there was a body kit where the twin pipes poked through a custom designed hole in the rear bumper, or cut into a recess in the bumper like on the Ewok Pure/Prestige/SE then it wouldn't look too bad IMHO.

Yes I have the dynamic.
I was getting to of the oval exhaust trims like I already have but I did not think of the soot issue. Of course the one I have blows down but the ones I am getting blow straight.
Hmm, I may see how much a custom comes back at. So ltd down here, I have powerflow and that is about it...

You won't have a soot issue with a later (DPF) car, or the larger oval pipes, I was referring to the smaller round pipes that sit very far back on a car with a bumper extension.

Yep totally agree RogB - what's needed is a through-bumper scenario.
