Another Sodding Tyre

So today as I walked past my car, I noticed one of the tyres looked odd. Looked a bit closer and there was a big gash running over 2 of the tread sections and it was really deep.

On closer inspection I removed what looked to be the snapped end of a Stanley knife blade. It was really wedged in.

Now, it's perfectly possible I've just been unlucky and run over a bit of broken blade, or some numpty has tried to slash my tyres. I'm assuming of someone has done that they'd have done the sidewall.

To make matters more annoying (more so than cut tyre being less than a year old) is that I thought hey I'll stick my winters on a month early and deal with a new tyre in the spring. Then I remembered that's what I thought last year when one of my only months old winter tyres got a sidewall puncture Sad

Can't win! Learned to drive in 2011.

Sometimes it goes like that - had three punctures in as many months in a lease car - all ruined (Lease company started getting suspicious). Up to then I could not recall any puncture in 10 years and then had had a run of them (although was parked near roofing work at the office for that spate, so I know where they came from......)

I just found a puncture in the car I just got from the main dealer - for sure it was there when I bought it as the nail head has been worn away, and there has never been any "tick tick tick", but I can't prove it was there. It is repairable, so I am not going to stress too much.

Although yours sounds odd - got any enemies?

Glad/sorry to hear it's not just me.

Enemies, possibly a neighbour who had to get reported to the dog warden but other than that I hope not! Theres been plenty of DIY done around the house and garden and Ive been to the tip at some point so nothing to say it didn't get picked up and then worked it's way round a bit the more the car was driven (I've no idea how long it has been like that). Learned to drive in 2011.

That's the best place to pick up stuff in your tyres to puncture them. There is a lot of spillage as people take stuff out of cars.

I have gone for years without a puncture, we are living near a large building development, then last month both my wife and I picked up nails in the outer edge of the tyre which meant that they were not repairable - it got expensive.

At least you've (probably) got a spare! No spare or space for one in most of the DSs. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I do, thankfully. Got a full sized alloy from this forum shortly after I bought the car. Thankfully it even has the same tyre as I'm currently using with the same tread depth.

But now I have no spare Sad Learned to drive in 2011.

Yeah, my dad has a habit of picking up nails and screws in his tyres.

I'll need to post a pic of the cut so we can see if people think it looks deliberate. Learned to drive in 2011.
