Do Freelanders unlock themselves?

On a couple of occasions I have returned to the F2 and found it unlocked, which puzzles me as I always make sure I lock it before leaving it. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

ive had this on 1 or 2 occasions over the years
at first I put it down to a 'middle aged moment' but on reflection I actually did lock it

On very rare occasions I think its possible for spurious radio signals to unlock cars at random if the frequency and signature match the cars coding. Im pretty sure the FL2 has a randomly changing key frequency to make it harder for scanners to detect but its not infallible.

But is also locks itself after a certain time when nobody opens the doors after unlocking.

But is also locks itself after a certain time when nobody opens the doors after unlocking. So how can it stay unlocked if it is unlocked by spurious radio signals? Did someone open the door?

I've had a few "senior moments" where I probably have gone back to the car to get something I have left in it and then forgotten to lock it after. On at least one occasion I have accidentally pressed the button by leaning against something when the key was in my pocket. As others have said if the car is unlocked and a door is not opened after one minute it locks itself so this should rule out the spurious signal theory.

I have definitely heard of doors being unlocked by other radio signals, but absolutely right that it should re-lock after a period of time if no doors are opened. Unless the ECU is confused by the non-standard signal so stays open ??

I have noticed this a couple of times - usually if I bang the fob when it is in my pocket and accidently catch the unlock button.

As said above though if a door isn't opened it should relock.

Well its mystery to me. I have a nightly shut down routine at home, doors, windows, look out the window to see if I've shut the garage, then look to see if the F2 had its mirrors folded in, which means its locked. But still I've found in unlocked some mornings. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Last sat night I drove home (across my own fields) from the village beer festival, the discovery sport not only unlocked it self but opened its own tailgate during the night . Im sure I shut it after unloading the stuff out of the boot Rolling Eyes

Mrs G sold prosecco to the masses and made £600 for the village play park, the whole event raised £14,000 apparently

27 barrels of beer and a whole pig were consumed , not all by me but I tried hard

I witnessed something rather odd like this a couple of year ago at a shooting event. It's very close to a military camp and training area. Someone came back from the car park saying that he couldn't get into his car as the fob didn't work. Then as the event finished we found that about half a dozen other cars (not all LandRovers) wouldn't work either. One by one the car park emptied of cars that would work leaving this stranded group and after about an hour one suddenly unlocked and eventually all except one was left (an early Discovery) which came back to life the next morning.
The obvious explanation was that some electronic device was being tested on the military range but we have no proof, just one big coincidence? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I have found the drivers door unlocked and the mirrors folded in after previously hearing the door latch operate on locking. This stopped
happening when I replaced the door latch. Indecently did the alarm sound when you opened the door?

A few year back motorbikes parking up on the N.Yorks moors near the RAF Fylingdales were often stranded. Apparently a certain type of alarm/immobiliser system was "zapped"' by the radar technology used there. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
