Al this technology makes vehicles easier to steal

Probably not a surprise to most of us on here but the latest figures show just how easy it is to steal vehicles fitted with keyless entry and keyless stop/start

late model FL2, Evoque etc etc can all be driven away with out the key. So you could get in the car, start it up, get dragged out (with keys in your pocket) and they drive off with the car and the keys still in your pocket
it wont cut out, stop, stall or anything until they switch the engine off and then they cant restart it. But that's too late as the car is already gone for good 99% of the time
apparently they cant allow the engine to cut out as it would endanger lives, but why cant they set it to cut out once its stationary? Even a car thief will have to stop at a junction or roundabout etc sometimes.

My 2015my will turn off the engine once warmed up due to the stop start system. If I open the door it will then fully turn off, as if I've pressed the off button. I am so used to this happening I now have to think about turning it off on the occasions that it stays running. Auto lock should also help you from being dragged out at lights.

It was easier in the 90's, you only need a Yale key (to strip the wires) back then.

Gone are the days of 'borrowing' and Escort, just because it was there!

These days it takes Googling, a laptop, some wiring skills, maybe a cheap chinese one-hack box, bit of practise, finding the right car etc etc

Its also a lot harder to do when drunk Rolling with laughter
