Door Mirror

Hi All,

Has anyone had any experience with disassembling the door mirrors. I'm not talking about removal of the actual mirror but the plastic cover (one piece)?

I have a second hand mirror that has a cover that is badly scuffed & scratched, I had hoped to swap it out with my existing mirror that has the plastic mirror surround broken but has a good cover, if you get my gist!

Failing that, how easy would it be to swap the broken surround for the good one (might be the easier option).

TIA for any advice.

Cheers,

OK, for anyone that might be interested!

I had an hour to spare this afternoon so thought I'd look into this.

The single piece cover is NOT designed to be removed.

The mirror surround piece however can be removed & refitted, with a bit of care!

The rear cover has three legs that extend through the mirror surround & are then moulded into a mush head shape, there is also a small countersunk torx screw fitted.

I drilled off the mush head bits & removed the damaged surround, I fitted the s/h surround & used some short self tappers to screw into the three legs.

Fitted the new mirror & it now looks almost as good as new!

Cheers,
