Engine Oil 0w 30 v 5w 30

In an FL2 SD4 Engine.............. I wonder what peoples thoughts are in using Castrol edge 0W-30 opposed to 5W-20.

I see that Eoroparts list the 0W 30 as an option for this car

Quite simple email Castro tech side, I do and that are very good at replying.

I had purchased Castrol oil in advance for the next service and got rid of the car and asked if the oil would do the new car. Fine was the answer as long it's not on extended service and not a diesel.

Give them a go. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Well I had a very quick reply back from the Castrol boffins as follows

Depends on whether it has a DPF or not ( diesel particulate filter )

If it does then it needs ideally a product called EDGE Professional C1 5W-30 from the dealer ( WSS-M2C-934B ) - but for top up, you can use the Magnatec 5W-30 C2, and although not to the correct spec, if the EDGE 0W-30 you have is the C3 version ( check the spec on the pack - should be this for Honda ) then I would suggest a litre for top up won't hurt

If it doesn’t have a DPF - then ideally Magnatec 5W-30 A5 - and again, for top up the EDGE 0W-30 would be ok

Hope that’s helpful
