message- start engine or system will shut down

Hi all, can anyone shed light on why a message comes up on my screen saying ' start engine or system will shut down in 3 seconds ' there is a battery with a red dot below it.

Thanks in advance.

It means battery charge is low and you need to switch on engine to carry on listening to radio etc Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

thanks for that but as this is as soon as I get in not just sitting in it listening to radio etc does that still mean low battery as I did a close on 100mile round trip yesterday so would have thought battery ok.

You'd think so Jules but my 2013 RRS came fitted with timed climate which was totally useless - every time I tried to use it car would shut down because system was protecting battery - same with TV when parked Rolling Eyes

They came as standard so I never pursued it but if like some I'd forked out megabucks to add them I would of been Evil or Very Mad

I will never pay to add these things to a LR because IMHO none of it works Confused

LR should stick to doing what they do best - great off road vehicles - leave the toys to the germans and Japs Wink Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

What did you do Shocked

I used to keep my RRS on a CTEK in the garage during winter when I did a lot of short runs or used it less frequently but it's ridiculous a rugged off road vehicle suffers like this Rolling Eyes

I remember guy on here had nightmare with this and access to emergency lock was impossible in garage - that's why I got the Ctek because I would not have same problem Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Range rover sport Embarassed

Ctek is a smart battery charger recommended by loads of guys on disco forum. LR now offer them as accessory on new models so they obviously know it's a problem Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

UPDATE; warning back on so rang dealer and although they said they will look at it and said they knew about a problem I might have to take it back to the dealer I bought from to have a new battery fitted? is this correct? cos god help me if I have to go back to that clown. Twisted Evil

2. driver seat going down. there is a nut that they will tighten under seat.
3. water ingress to boot. yes, we know about this fault so will sort it.

bloody new car and am going off it already. will give update next week.
