Air Con clicking in and out at idle, not working.

Hi All,
Just had the AC re-gassed as it wasn't as cool as it should be and compressor was a bit noisy.

Now it doesn't work properly at idle Crying or Very sad . The clutch clicks in for about 1-2 seconds then cuts out for about 15-20 seconds and the output is not at all cool.

At anything above a steady 30 mph the output is really cold, as it should be.

Any thoughts as to why this is happening? My D2 gets icy cold sat on the drive for 5 mins before i set off.

I am taking it back to the garage (who are not AC specialists) that re-gassed it tomorrow but would like any suggestions beforehand!

Thanks all.

Tom

Did they remove the old oil and gas pressure test then replace with new oil and gas?

Sounds like the fan speed controller failed. If the fans are not running the gas pressure rises too high and causes the pressure sensor to stop the AC from working until the pressure drops. It will be fine when cruising as natural air flow cools the condenser.

when the AC was serviced they should of checked the pressures whilst idling to make sure the fans were working.
