It would not be necessary with snow chains when we have Freelander2. It would eventually be on the road with pure ice.
But there are some places that demand that we have chains in the car.

I have chosen the model with 6 straps (picture below)
The video shows a different model, the principle is the same.
This has 6 straps (instead of the 4 on the video), and the interface is larger.

That looks like the best invention for those of us that very occasionally experience those awful slippery thick ice conditions .
I like the fast fitting, no damage to alloys and even a woman driver can fit them . They are not meant for longer trips or fast driving so they will NOT damage the tyres .

Is there enough room between the back of the tyre and the brake pipes ?

That is normally an issue if you have bigger than standard rims (eg 18").

Chicken George - I must have tried every combination of Jeko/put&go etc, but not the one you suggested. Just tried it - it works.

No snow in Devon, but I spend the first few months of the year in Southern Spain. I know, no snow there either, but driving in January through the centre of Spain is very high and we have encountered snow before, although it has not yet held us up.

Reading the Google translation they can be used on wet grass , which I am sure you know can be like ice.
I frequently use farmer's fields when I go camping in the UK, and to date the FL1 and 2 have never let us down or churned up the grass. But....

A set of these Snow Belts would be like an insurance policy, (might pay out when needed).

I have the 5 spoke 17 wheels, fitted with 235 x 65 conti tyres.

I have just measured a minimum gap between caliper and inside of wheel as being 16mm - so that seems okay.

I did try a search on 'Jeko' but recieved umpteen results, none of which seemed to relate to these snow belts. Adding CG's 'snow' - bingo!

{That outdoorbits.com site looks good for campers, I am considering ordering an Aquafresh Travel Shower (£16) to wash the dog down on sites. Often it is frowned upon to use a hose from the site water supply.}

They were helpfull when I rang to enquire re availability and rang me back. The other firm have still not replied to their 'ask a question' option on their website. Also the delivery charge was less from the12voltshop.


(They cost £58.43 plus about £5 for p&p, I estimate the p&p as I also ordered the Travel Shower for the dog!).

I ordered at eBay.it to 80 € and 20 € for delivery. Received an e-mail today that the delivery would cost 35 €. That's why I raised the purchase and received a mail from PayPal 5 minutes later, "Full refunds of amounts paid”. Shows how safe it is to use PayPal.
