Double standards are one of my pet hates and with tax its just mandatory. The time of day and computer systems would not stand in the way of the tax man if you owed them money. There would be no discount, no place you could hide (unless you're Amazon or Costa or some other company with off shore accounts Rolling Eyes )

The tax man will look for you, he will find you and he will skank your ass off! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

Just received the refund cheque for the unused tax on my bike. As I was selling it I only taxed it for 6 months. I didn't realise that the premium for 6 months tax v 12 months is not refundable. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Anyone know if the paper slip signed and dated within May and posted to DVLA in June gets your June tax back ? Just re-checked the web site and it says from point of being informed for web based changes. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

From memory doing it the old fashioned way the refund letter had to be handed in at a local office(no more) or posted on the last day of the month prior to the month you wanted a refund for . I suspect that many have tried (and failed) what your suggesting YB. Big Cry

The thing that I find annoying about this sort of thing is that the civil servants setting up the schemes are well aware that they are loading the dice against the public (and ultimately themselves too) yet they persist. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Signed by garage in May (genuine) was my reasoning as no refund forms now used. Yes probably another stitch up. Rolling Eyes FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I agree with that, Camersons mother complained about the destruction of her local services when he was in power. That nob minister ruining the NHS may well need a ambulance and care PDQ in a RTA incident, private care will not deal with that. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Not wishing to start a political debate it is clear that some hard choices need to be made about the NHS and it's sustainability which will mean higher taxes if there are more of us who are living longer with chronic illnesses. The emotion and politics need to be taken out of the debate and the staff need to stop thinking of themselves as some sort of caring sainthood and get more businesslike. They are technicians delivering a service. I think we have all had experiences of lost paperwork, appointments cancelled, test results gone missing etc. I value the NHS and can't complain about the treatment but I think that there is too much of "but we have always done it this way". 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Oh, you are part right Dorset but I can give you examples of how the private sector cock up and charge for that pleasure, it was me using my wife's firms BUPA (she has to pay tax for me to be on it). Gowns covered in others old blood as one example. Ultra sounds and told no issues and then get a scan by the back door and find you have a 70% tear in a shoulder. No faith in the private sector dong any better I am afraid but you can get a coffee as they scan your credit card. Whistle FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The private sector tend to use NHS consultants as their working conditions under the TB government reduced their hours giving them plenty of time to moonlight, the rest of the private sector is down to cost a in most firms. There are some iffy CV's out there in both NHS and private sector as management don't check on references or qualifications, bit like many engineers never went to uni or did an apprenticeship just a very good CV. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

When I was in the trade if you said you did your 5 years apprenticeship at certain garages it opened doors.
