Folding Mirrors

I posted this at the end of another lot of posts concerning mirrors in the US which was probably the wrong place to put it, having no replies I have reposted here in the hope some one will see it & help with info.
I recently purchased a used 2011, diesel, auto, HSE FL2 with 105,000km on clock, some issues, which is normal but overall looks good, one item I took it back for adjustment to my requirements was the power mirrors, they were set to fold when the engine was switched off, I asked the LR dealer to cancel this function as I wished to fold them only when necessary. Well & good, until I later tried to fold using the two button method, no fold at all! Car returned to dealer who removed & replaced, switches, fuses, sensors, door panels, mirrors & everything accept me as I waited, at the end of the day I was told to bring the car back & leave it for at least 2 days as they would need more time to solve the problem. (perhaps they want to contact the mother ship for advice?).
Sorry for the long story but that is how it went, does anyone have any info or suggestions to try, before the dealership "swallows" my car for an unknown period of time? I would really appreciate any advice. "Other" car: Defender TD5 CSW 90.
Ex LR's owned: Series 2a SW short, Series 3 SW petrol 6 cylinder long, Series 3 pickup petrol long, Series 3 pickup diesel, long.
"Other makes", ex cars too many to list here, total over 5 bar klicks covered.

Thanks for the "help" yorky bob. A good reason for not folding mirrors every time you turn of the engine is visiting dealers over 7,000 clicks a month as I do, means 20 odd folds a day unnecessary wear. Common sense, not very common now I know. Is there anyone out there who can give me some useful info regarding this mirror problem? "Other" car: Defender TD5 CSW 90.

Im pretty sure to deactivate the folding mirrors you have to lock the car, allow the mirrors to fold in, then fold them out by hand.
you can then fold them in/out using the 2 button press, but they wont auto fold on locking/unlocking.

Thanks for reply RogB, that is what the dealer did, now they cannot get them to work at all despite all they have tried, as per my first post. If you hear or think of anything else I might try please post. Both dealer & I are stumped at moment, thanks.
P.S I am a long term LR fan having started driving a series 1 when I was 14 in Nigeria, illegally but do not tell, but at the moment with this & other problems I am wondering if I should have kept my Cherokee at 280k clicks in 3 years, but I wanted car to replace that & my wife's Reno Scenic. They say hindsight is an exact science? Confused "Other" car: Defender TD5 CSW 90.
