Theft of tyre valve caps!

Went out to check the tyre pressures today and both caps have gone from the passenger side! They aren't standard caps, they are black and silver stainless steel ones from Amazon. Ordered another set at £6.

I've had valve caps disappear before,don't forget to lubricate the new ones they have a habit of bonding on to the thread.

I had that problem recently.

One out of the four caps had bonded so tight that 2 pairs of pliers couldn't move it.

Eventually I got the cap off but ruined the valve.

Result one flat tyre!

Had to remove the wheel and take it to my local tyre depot for a new valve.

Sticking to the standard plastic ones from now on.

Neighborhood kids got a couple of mines as well.

At least the valve caps are useful. I was just looking at the agenda for the Parish Council meeting next week and I see that one of the items is "theft of dog poo bins and contents" - so things can get worse. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I’ve had the same problem with a set of Richbrook anti theft valve caps on a Disco. They fused to the valve stems completely and ruined a complete set of pressure sensing valves - around £500 for the set if you buy them from Land Rover Never use metal caps, unless you’re prepared to remove them regularly and keep them greased.

I’ve had numerous ones nicked, mainly the LR branded ones. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
