United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

A tablet isn't as integrated no, but it would still be a permanent hard wired setup. Also a shiny toy Smile

The annoying thing about the aux in is it is nowhere near the front of the car. If it was accessible from the head unit that'd be handy.

You can replace the head unit with a good Apple Car Play/Android Auto one now with a kit from InCarTech keep the sensors, steering controls etc. But it is stupidly costly. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....

What you are looking for as an end result is not going to be cheap, you want the latest technology to run on older equipment which is never going to be available from poundland. The problem with technology is that it is ever evolving, there have been some good cheap suggestions given here already from what I have read. I think you would do better to just accept that what you have is limited in relation to what you want, or else be prepared to chuck a shedload of money to have a solution to provide what you desire.

Previous to my FL2 I had a MY13 KIA Sportage, it had bluetooth, rear camera, USB connectivity amongst other things, do I miss some of them, yes I do, especially the rear camera but I knew when I bought the car it didn't have this function and I accept that. Enjoy your FL2 and don't try to compare it to what your wife has in her car, and for heavens sake don't go to your nearest Land Rover dealer and see what toys they come with today Laughing

I don't disagree with any of that. Although I'm not exactly comparing the cars, it is a 2013 she has so still not bang up to date. I too had a 13 Sportage with all the toys and I'd rather have the FL2 with none of them, but seeing what the options are in terms of improving convenience is OK by me. Learned to drive in 2011.

It was a bit of a shock having to dust off some CD's to play in the car too after having a whole library of songs on a USB stick. Shocked

I still have a few CDs kicking about although the only players I have are in the car and the laptop. Everything else uses streaming services. Learned to drive in 2011.

My Honda Civic, my last car, I had a USB port and played a 32gb USB Jukebox set on random, I miss that with the Freelander 2, the only thing (to me) that comes close is a bot pricy at a couple of hundred quid, take a look a this box : -

Anyone used that box and is it any good? I'm tempted by it but to be spending £300 for Bluetooth and can only connect one device at a time then I'm not sure it is.
