Radio shut down

Had the Freelander a while now and I still can't find a way to extend the period the radio will remain on when the engine is not running before the automatic shut down to conserve energy message appears.Must be straightforward enough but have checked the manual and don't see any instructions,it's a small thing but gets annoying after a while of having to switch it back on,any advice would be appreciated

thanks,Bob.

When you have the "radio" on you actually activate the whole Infotainment network, touchscreen, audio modules, amplifier modules, instrument cluster display module (FCDMB), DAB module, arial Amplifiers etc etc. There is a huge drain on the battery system so dissabling this sensor would not be recommended and can only be done by editing CCF. Maintaining a base load voltage is crutial to ECU's correct start up procedures and this feature stops voltage dropping to such a level that errors begin to occur. MY15

Just seems odd you can't have a twenty minute break in services without switching the radio on every couple of minutes.I have been switching off the touch screen even the nice picture of the Freelander gets switched off but shortly after doing all this the radio gives you that message on the screen telling you it's going bye byes.Never had any previous vehicle where you couldn't sit with the radio on for a short while.

Turning off screen does not turn the module off just the screen. Infact the touchscreen is the gateway module for the whole infotainment system.
You have to understand that the Freelander 2 runs on an interconnected system ECU's or CAN. Some vehicles do not. MY15

I bow to you superior technical knowledge Stuart, still think it's a poor show that such technically advance motor won't allow you to have the radio on solely.

Unfortunately, battery technology has not kept up........same battery as way back when!
Until they design a better battery then you'll just have to start your car or listen to your Iphone when parked. MY15
