United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Izmir Blue

It just gets better and better.

I noticed a wet patch on the drive under the car on Sunday. I jacked the car up and took the undertray off which was soaked with oil

After drying everything off, I have traced the leak to the newly refurbished gearbox, from some sort of cover / plug that is retained by a circlip - does anyone know what this cover is for?

This is starting to get ridiculous now, we have owned the car for just over a month and only been able to drive it for about a week of that time. It is currently back at the gearbox place having the leak sorted, but I am just waiting for the next thing to fail on it. I can see it going before too long, which is a shame after it has just had £2k worth of gearbox work on it. So many (uneducated, or so I thought) people tried to warn me from buying Land Rover and I am starting to see why.

On the up side, the power steering leak is fixed. The mechanic had to replace the large pressure pipe that runs from the power steering pump back over the top of the engine, and also the next pipe to it as he couldn't separate them.
