Starting problems - dash lights go off

Hi guys,
I'm having starting problems with my 2009 TD4. The issue is that after inserting the key and pressing start, lights on dash go off, and it doesn't start. It looks like the fob switch "hungs" since it's not easy to release the key. Pressing start only (no foot on brake) causes a normal operation of lights on dashboard, but when trying to start it, it fails and lights go off.
After a while, it finally starts. Trip and all fuel consumption values are reset.

I did a search on the forum and found a technical bulletin talking about a software update, but that's supposed to be related to 2007/2008 vins. Can this software update be missing on mine, if it's 2009?

I scanned and got these errors:
B108D-23 Start button (circuit C)
B1D21-62 Remote control switch
U3008-01 Control module

These errors are related to the start button and the fob docking thing. But of course so far I have no clue of where the issue is. Any ideas before going to LR? Their suggestion will be to change everything Very Happy

Thanks,
Juan

Battery would be my first check. Happened to me years ago on my old FL1. Everything went out when I tried to start the engine. Battery completely U/S.
The same has just happened to a chap at work this week with a VW Touareg (at least with a FL2 you don’t need to take the seat out to access the battery like he did).
Best of luck. Gone:

^ As above ^
I'd say almost certainly a faulty battery or loose/corroded connections, I'd start at the battery earth connection where it connects to the body.

Hi guys, thank you for your comments.
Battery is not the issue. It's new, less than year, had it checked and it's fine. And in fact the engine starts up every day with no issues.
Same for the extra earth lead. That's in place and ok.

The issue is intermittent. It happened only twice in the past two years.

Based on what I found here, symptoms are the same ones solved by technical bulletin LTB00093, but this is supposed to affect only 2007 and 2008 vins, that's why I don't have a clue.

Update on this issue... so far, it never happened again. The only thing I've doing differently is to wait a couple of seconds before pressing the brakes and pressing the start engine button.
No new faults were recorded.

Still puzzled about this...
