OK, well, I can't help then. Sorry. I had thoughts of BMW motorcycles with CANBUS where the power sockets would turn off because the ECU didn't detect a drain on them with a satnav plugged in because the satnav only drew milliamps. These things can be far too clever for the good of the owners. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

No problem. Nothing better to do whilst waiting for the microwave to ping. Apart from sinking a bottle of Ringwood XXXX Porter. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Update

Hi There, I thought I would provide an update to my question for anybody else viewing this thread with a similar problem. I recently took my car into the dealership to be serviced but also mentioned the phone charging problem. They say they've checked the fuses and tested the cigarette lighter port and all seem to be working. Now the interesting thing is that it works now. I don't have to remove the USB cable first to get the charger working. Just plug the phone directly into the cable attached to the cigarette lighter adaptor and all works. Unfortunately this isn't a definitive answer to the problem but you could interpret it as maybe a fuse problem that was fixed just by re-seating the connection or the use of a new fuse. Hopefully you might find this helpful and I would just like to say a big thanks to everyone that posted their suggestions. Freelander 2 XS 2013
