Why I mentioned this is because I asked the same question 2 years ago to LR by Email, I have no need for deflectors and carry the Email with french translation if ever I am stopped, plus it is not an offence for any car not to have them whilst it is daylight as no offence is being committed.

I have to say that I disagree that they don't need a deflector or adjustment because my headlamps definitely have a kick up on the left side. So adjustment is necessary. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Do you have halogen or xenon?, Halogen are definitely flat beam from MY13 unless the shutter mechanism is not horizontal as it should be, xenon are not and have a lever.

Mine must be Xenon. My handbook has the adjustment for continental driving described.

From new HSE's came with halogens only. Xenons were an optional extra. If you have a headlamp level switch inside the car then yours from factory came with halogens. Xenons are self levelling so no need for the scroller switch.

Open the bonnet and look for a HAL UK or HID UK label on the headlight housing. HID UK is xenons.

Ps the handbook is generic in the sense that it doesn't differ for halogen and xenons headlights cars. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Well that's confused the hell out of me now. I just took off the headlamp and they don't have a lever but they are labelled as HAL.

And as I wrote before they have a kick up to the left in the beam pattern. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I'm still confused. As I like to carry spare bulbs with me, I have never heard of HB3. I can see H11 Osram Night Breaker which is mentioned earlier in this thread, which look the same. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H11-OSRAM...search=car

When I Google HB3 all I seem to get is LED replacements. http://www.horizonleds.co.uk/hb3-9005-cree...-fog-bulbs MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Nothing confusing as your handbook states HB3 bulb

Just to try and shed some light on European headlight adjustment:
1- The handbook is not reliable. Certainly for earlier cars it only lists the procedure for Xenons.
2- Early Xenons have a handle to switch over. You need to remove the lamp. Procedure IS in the handbook.
3- Early Halogens need a mask. If you want to make your own there is a template available on the forum. These lights have a small dimple to show the centre of the lamp. The mask is positioned in relation to this.
4- Later Xenons are flat beam and do not have the adjuster because they do not need adjustment.
5- Later Halogens do not have the centre dimple as LR say they do NOT need adaptors. This is despite their having an asymmetrical beam. It is possible to add masks BUT you need to spend a lot of time with straight edges in order to find the exact centre of the light (and mark it temporarily with a felt pen). Carrying a printout from LR is a good idea.
6- Adaptors may also be required even in daylight as headlights are often compulsory in wet weather. You may also need to travel through tunnels, where lights are also compulsory.

Btw don't forget if driving in Germany that some cities now require you to display an official sticker with your car's pollution rating. Details can be found on the internet. There is an on-the-spot fine for non-compliance. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
