4 fault codes and reduced performance

Gone into restricted performance. Worst possible time as need to get to airport Monday and there is a rail strike

3 Red Codes and one other.

P0102
p0110
p0405

p0403 (not red)

Seemed to happen as I scrawled through trip to see how far I could get on my tank of fuel this afternoon .

So far doing the remove leads and touch together for over 10 minutes and putting a bit of extra charge in battery.

If I take out the airflow sensor can I clean it with any standard fluid or do is need to be an electrical type spray ? It may be not happy after using a silicone spray in the engine bay the other day.

All ideas welcome guys. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

re p245a

mines coming up with p245a and the recommendation is check and install a new egr valve position sensor

seems its something to do with the egr cooler

mines a 2012 with 70 k on the clock. my last one was an 07 reg and i owned it from 70k to 150k with only a new throttle body + servicing.

i bought this newer one and here we go with the problems. freelanders are great but why are they so complex.

id start with looking at the EGR codes.

Wiring at egr valve is as follows.....
1 and 2 are the live and ground for position sensor.
3 is the data from the position sensor back to the ECU
4 and 5 are the motor live and Earth.

Hope this helps

Haven't done mines yet however there is plenty of room down that side of the engine bay so can't see it being too bad

Not done the freely but did a few on the Jag I had - this link might help

Oh and I use Mplin's electrical contact cleaner spray for sensors - its geat stuff blows out tye crud and solvent cleans up rest before evaporating away only a couple of quid for a decent size aerosol

Good Luck

EDIT: Sorry used wrong link Embarassed corrected it now with pic above No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Wonder if there is cleaner bomb you can put in your fuel system. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Battery back on and cleared 3 fault codes (may come back on) but left with p0405 that may be 040500 in LR talk.

Think a MAP sensor would be the cheapest approach but stuck with time to get straight at it.

Anyone got a description in respect of fitting the MAP sensor or knowledge of above code ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

P0405 is the fault relating to the egr postition sensor. This fault code on other cars can be because the flap inside the egr is obstructed by crud not allowing it to fully close. I would fully remove the these for power to position sensor. Check the earth and signal out with a multi meter. Then remove the egr and fully clean and inspect.

Trav thanks, thinking that is what I am up against.

Is it a pig of a job to do and expensive ? Getting the EGR valve off to clean that is.

Still do a few jobs myself being ex trade but not as flexible as I once was being classed as a pensioner

Looks like car is going to be stuck in drive for over 2 weeks as I am heading away to ski mountaineer and wondering if I should get it picked up by an indie and have them do it while I am away FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Was just out looking at my one as I have never had to do it to mines. Doesn't look the worst to do, but certainly not the best either. There will be some crawling about under it to remove the pipe going from the egr to the throttle body but once that's off it shouldn't be too bad.

Once it is off you will want to inspect it before cleaning. Shine a torch through it see if you can see any light. If yes indicating that the flap is being obstructed. It won't take much to throw the system out.

Decided to order one of these: Having cleared the codes car is now going from orange engine to re triangle depending on how it feels. Turbo seems fine for a mile or so and then getting some hesitation and rev limitation comes back

Will be 2 weeks before I get to to fit it so anyone with further ideas feel free to comment. Fuel filter changed in last 3 weeks so should not be fuel starvation FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

As you have recently changed the fuel filter it might be worthwhile checking the fuel flow for any trapped air which could be nterrupting the feed No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Bleed at injectors to be sure so not sure what else I could do there.

That may have added one or two of the codes as it cut out if injector pipes opened up more than a whisker. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
