United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black
EPD query?

I have just bought a 2013 Freelander 2 GS manual. I would appreciate if someone could tell me how the EPB should work. I have noticed that when I start the car I then release the brake but if on a slope I then roll. I have searched but it looks like I shouldn't need to release the brake and it should do so by itself as I drive off. I have tried this but the brake simply doesn't release. Should it? When I stop it does put itself on.
I bought it from Evans Halshaw and think I have a 3 month warranty so think I may be able to take it back if it is faulty.

You should be able to drive off and the handbrake release itself. Smile

Electronic Parking Brake Release query

From a previous query I believe my EPB should turn itself off when I pull away. It doesn't and I have to turn it off myself. I looked in the manual but I find it unclear and wonder if the is some reason that it may be staying on? It could be read that the manual version I have does not turn off automatically? It is a 2013 GS. Could it have been an option? Any advice appreciated.

I have driven a number of LRs with EPB. They all auto release as you pull away. Best get yours checked.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

From the Handbook - it may have been de-activated Surprised

Quote:
With manual transmission the EPB is applied
automatically if the ignition is switched off and
the vehicle speed is below 3 km/h (2 mph). To
prevent automatic operation, when the vehicle
is stationary, press and hold the EPB switch in
the release position. Within 5 seconds, switch
off the ignition and continue to hold the EPB
switch for a further 2 seconds.

AND don't forget this:
Quote:
Note: Automatic release of the EPB is only
possible when the driver’s door is closed or the
driver’s seat belt is buckled.

It took me a while but I've sussed this.

When you start the car the brake won't auto release unless you've pressed the brake pedal.

So start you're Landy with the clutch down as usual, press the brake pedal and release then drive off. don't touch the brake button.

Thank you for that, I will give it a try. However I phoned a Land Rover dealer today and they said try throttle first then clutch release and brake will auto release. I tried and it works. I think they said it was 2 pedal operation which would tally with your answer as well.
