Freelander 2013 Keyfob Help

Hi All

This is my first post on this forum being a new owner of a 2013 freelander 2, so hopefully i am in the right area as i need some advice on the state of my two keyfobs

After getting my car home i have noticed that both of the keyfobs, although working fine, are not in the best condition and the rubber front keeps coming away. They seems quite badly made.

Has anyone had this problem? How can i fix the issue? Is it best to just try and put some super glue on the inside and hope it keeps the rubber down or should i go into a main dealer and ask for a repair/new fob? I really don't want to have to fork out any more cash!

I have enclosed a couple of pictures.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Done this one and written up on the site, secret is to do a search. Idea

You need 2 of these:

Easy enough to change, get some new batteries while you are at it.

You have to snap them out of old casing with care and use a soldering iron to carefully lock in your sender in new units. Keep new battery faces clear of skin contact if possible. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Hey thanks for the swift response and yes i am sorry i should have searched first!

Although your instructions sound great i am certainly not very handy with things like this and i wouldnt trust myself doing the work - plus i dont own a soldering iron!

I therefore did a search on here as you said and found an older thread..

https://www.remotefobcentre.com/collection...remote-fob

This company do the full service for £39.99 which isnt too bad so i may just use them to have one fob done and keep the other one

Thanks again

Are you in easy striking distance of East Leeds ? If so get the fobs and I will do it for nowt.

You could if happy make a small donation to a charity that looks after the UK homeless or ex servicemen.

PM any personal details. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

That is an extremely generous offer.. i would have taken you up on it - i am about 50miles away from Leeds but i have since been ringing around these companies and in the end i called my local land rover dealer and they have agreed to do both keys and new batteries for £60 whilst i wait. Which i don't feel is too bad - they have said they will give 2 year warranty on the key as well.

Thanks for your help and kind offer though.

I had mine done under warranty the day I collected my approved used 13my.

It's a known issue and a result partly of poor bonding and partly too much flex in the pcb. I understand a full fix puts a block of foam under the pub to stop the buttons from over traveling and breaking the bond.

One of mine did this after 2 -3 years in a silicone cover. My spare is fine so far after I started to use it as the main one.
The delaminated one is now my spare and the Silicone cover is keeping it together. I bought a new casing from e-bay , but haven't put it on yet since there's soldering involved and I'll probably break something !
