Dash Cam ign feed in passenger fuse box?

Just a quick question, in the passengers cell fuse box on my12 SD4 HSE is there an ignition switched fuse to power a dash cam, so it goes off with ign off etc or do I need to run wiring in to engine bay fuse box??

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up FREELANDER 1 55 plate XS TD4 Had for 7yrs now sold 😢

Yes, you need to check, but I think I used the 4th from the left on the top row, it was not being used. Easiest way to do it is with a piggy back fuse

Anyone looking to add a dash cam to a 2013 onwards Freelander use the blank slot fuse 52 as its next the front cigar power point fuse and is also ignition live but with a delay which must be tied into the steering lock system of the ignition.
It will instantly switch off if you exit and lock the doors. Thumbs Up

Does this mean you cannot use it if you have parking mode and if not which fuse should be used? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

The Nextbase that I got distinctly said NOT to hard wire into the car. The power cable it came with has a transformer/adaptor on the end which plugs into a Cig Lighter socket. So I guess it doesn't run on 12V. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

My Nextbase has an internal battery which allows it to wake up if the car gets a nudge. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I am surprised that your Nextbase Dash Cam states do not hard wire. Halfords, Maplin etc sell branded Nextbase Dash Cam hardwire kits @ £20.
Should you wish to keep your original power supply, you could buy a 12v cigarette lighter socket together with 2x insulated spade end connectors and a mini fuse piggyback connector (around £7 total cost from fleabay or Maplin), connect to footwell fuse box and clip/tidy cable plus socket behind glove box.

The Powermagic Pro comes with a cigarlighter socket for you to connect your dashcam. Hardwire the magic box. Plug in your camera. No need to remove the plug from the cam cable.

As above regarding lighter socket on power magic then just use F1 and F21....

If your delving into the fuseboxes then you must have a certain amount of 'nouse' about you. So can I suggest something I did;

I bought one of these from ebay.

soldered two wires onto one end and added a short usb lead ,with correct connector for the camera, to the other. A bit of heat-shrink over it to stop it coming apart and to insulate it.
Then by removing the interior light, you can access the switched live feed and the return for the rear view mirror. These need to be separated and bared so you can solder the wires to them. Re-insulate with tape and tuck it all out of the way.
All you need to do now is feed your plug wire out behind the mirror, plug it in, stick cam to the top of the window and you end up with a very inconspicuous installation. No wires on show. Very Happy

Anyone with an idea why dash cam seems to be permantly on please? got in car yesterday after two days and it struggled to start, coincidence or draining?
F1 and F21 fuses with power magic set at 12v and infinity if that helps.

on separate issue how to get the sticky pad off to see if I can get cam a bit higher on windscreen. ( less important ) If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
