Flywheel noise?

Lately when I clutch a rattle noise appears but goes when released not there all the time clutch feels ok 100k miles on the clock clutch/flywheel have not been replaced yet if flywheel is in trouble is it wise to change clutch as well.
Also has anybody bought the full kit to do this job on eBay Luk seem to be reasonable is everything that's needed in these kits?

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Lux Manual Rimini Red

They are fitted with dual mass flywheels, I am not too sure about the freelanders however I have changed countless amounts of them on different types of vehicles. But I would strip it all down and inspect it all as you may be lucky it be the release bearing.

Yes with the mileage on the car I would change the clutch kit including release bearing whilst in about there. If the flywheel is kapoot I would definantly consider putting in a solid state flywheel. Cheaper and a lot less problematic for future.

Now cue the f Censored nys saying if it was meant to have a solid state landrover would have fitted one. (Odds are the have never fitted one with success.)

Hi Trav how long can you stay driving with the flywheel or bearing making a noise can it be harmful or not thanks again for your help.

How long is a bit of string? You may get months or you may get minutes. The louder it is the worse shape it will be in and in the event to a catastrophic failure it could leave you in an expensive situation.

surely the DMF is acting as a transmission shock absorber & helping to protect our fragile transmissions from the bashing doled out by a 4 pot diesel? I wouldn't risk removing it...

I used to fit them to a lot of transit vans which we all know fine are driven like they're stolen and the stood the test of time. Truthfully the difference in the initial take off wasn't even noticeable with a solid state fly wheel fitted.
