Sat nav icon flashing

Hi all.

I recently purchased my Freelander 2 2011 and am loving the purchase. Used to have a Discovery, but have come to the light side and am well aware that they all have their little quirks.

One thing that is annoying me at the moment is the arrow to indicate where I am and the direction I'm travelling on the sat nav keeps flashing.

Is this normal or does it need calibrating?

I welcome all the help you guys can give and look forward to hearing all suggestions.

Thanks

I have seen the same blinking arrow in my FL2 which I own now for 2 weeks. Found it weird but because the sat nav is working I thought it was normal. It also shows me some strange arrow icons before navigation starts, did not know what to do with them. But after pressing something it started anyway so I thought it was OK.

But because of your message I started doubting again and started reading the manual:

Quote:
CALIBRATION
Select Calibration from the Navigation Setup
menu.

POSITION/DIRECTION
If the vehicle has been moved, for example, by
ferry, rail or trailer, the vehicle position/
direction may need to be calibrated.
Select Position/Direction. A map showing the
current vehicle position is displayed.
Touch the appropriate arrow icons to scroll the
map until the vehicle position is in the correct
location, then select OK to confirm.
Note: During map scrolling, the vehicle
position icon will remain centrally located on
the screen, while the map scrolls to the new
position.

The map showing the heading adjustment
arrows is displayed. Adjust the heading by
touching the arrows until the navigation
symbol shows the correct alignment. Select OK
to confirm the new heading.

I know my car was moved on a trailer before I got it. So I will try tomorrow to re-calibrate the sat nav as described. Hopefully/maybe the arrow will not flash anymore after that.

Also after calibration the arrow is blinking. I also found several videos on youtube which show the sat nav and on all videos I found the arrow is blinking. So I assume it must be normal.

Why it flashes I don't know unless you are losing GPS signal, but with the three FL2's I have owned the arrow within the circle is solid.

Then I don't know why on my sat nav the arrow is flashing, apparently like the sat nav of Cookieman.

The arrow on my sat nav is flashing like in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi2bPnQT_YI

at 1:08 in the video.

I don't think it's loosing GPS signal as it is always spot-on, it brings me were I want to go and it detects when I am not following the calculated route.

I also don't mind the flashing arrow, I don't look at the screen that much while driving anyway. I was just wondering if it was trying to tell me something (like Cookieman was).

Hi all

Thanks for your input. I havent had a chance to fiddle with the sat nav since I posted but am sure that it shouldn't be flashing.

I agree that every video I have found the icon is flashing too. I just find it strange.

I am not losing signal either as the sat nav is working fine.

I will play with it tomorrow when I have a little time and report back.

Thanks for your help.

Same here. Used the sat nav last weekend for a trip of 200km (and back) and the arrow was flashing all the way.
