3rd service feedback

Had my 3rd service yesterday.
Amazed to find out the air filter is not replaced!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7sdrigde30gtyah/...7.jpg?dl=0
So i have changed it myself

call from dealer telling me a DPF pipe is split £167 to replace
also lucky as still under manufacturer warranty till 02/17.
I had to bring this to their attention
also brake fluid change was not mentioned
so they are doing that labour FOC when it goes back in later this month.

Loan car was HSE Evoque
gearbox was superb
interior less inspiring and seating position was not to our liking.

Lastly:
go check your Grill fixings under the bonnet
as mine were loose and one mounting has cracked
I saw tech checking these on the Dashcam.

quite amazing how 4 inches of rubber pipe(clip missing)
can equate to £167
I guess they will replace entire assembly

but this in my opinion could have been resolved on the day with a new piece of rubber pipe and a new clip

As you are in Somerset, was that Yeovil LR ? I have had good service from them in the past. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Yes this was Yeovil LR
The service overall was ok
But 3 inches of split rubber pipe should never equate to £167
Now they may replace sensor and pipes(needlessly)
Why not just change the pice or rubber tube?
Brake fluid should have been mentioned on booking in
Was overlooked so is being changed labour FOC.
Overall I feel it will be better to do it myself in future
I will replace every filter every year and on finding a piece of rubber pipe split I will replace it there and then
Instead of waiting two weeks for parts and having DPF non functional.

Air filter change is on every service for later all FL2's I think.

Brake fluid is not done in basic service cost strangely when it is recommended as a service item, still getting my head around that one.

So are you seeing is a dealer quoting a price to seem competitive but not operating to the genuine LR service schedule ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

The brake fluid change is three yearly and occurs on an A service first time, B Service second time, A service etc. Best that it is priced seperately rather than added as standard to A and B service prices. No doubt the dealers would like it included so the get the money for free two out of three years though.

I had a reduced engine performance message and called out LR Assist, the guy diagnosed a failed DPF sensor and whilst under the car said that the DPF pipe is perished and about to fail. It went in under warranty to Yeovil LR and they sorted it, however according to the bill, they changed two sensors and didn't charge for the pipe so I wonder if the pipe comes with one of the sensors?

Just had the same (Visual Health Check) report after a 48-month (full) service at Yeovil that the DPF hose is beginning to split - £273 to replace. Also rear brake pads 70% worn - £178 to replace.
Used local independent guy who charged £9 for a replacement hose (fuel pipe) and £41 for brake pads, with £49 total labour. £118 plays £450 - no contest.
Nice guys at Yeovil but the DPF pipe fiasco seems to me to be a design fault - the short hose is quite stressed so my guy put in a longer hose with a big circular loop to absorb movement/vibration. Seems the official replacement is a completely new design with longer metal pipes that moves the flexible part further away from the dpf.
Originally asked Yeovil to investigate the 'thump' when the auto box kicks in after a period sitting in Drive on the footbrake. A firmware update (as mentioned elsewhere on some discussion forum) seems to have cured it. F.O.C. instead of £96 despite being out of warranty - thanks Yeovil.

the NEW design DPF pipes are exactly the same and the pipe will split the same way
I replaced the rubber tube with a far longer piece to avoid a repeat performance.

There is a bit too much stress on that second pipe looking at that photo. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Ridiculous design the pipe should be nigh on twice the length.
I would wager nearly all DPF cars have this pipe split.

Whereabouts on the car are these dpf pipes, assuming they are in the engine bay? I'd like to check mine to make sure there are OK.

Thanks

When my LR Assist guy came he jacked up the car at the front and crawled underneath to look at exhaust sensors then came out saying that the DPF pipe was about to split. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
